5th and 6th Grade: October 18, 2017

While we continued to practice phrases with "quiere" and "puede,"  we also began learning about one of the most famous characters in Spanish literature--Don Quixote.

Ask your student:
  • Who was Señor Quexada?  Who was Don Quixote?   (Señor Quexada was a character in a book.  He read so many books about knights, that he went crazy and said he was a knight named Don Quixote.)

Vocabulary:
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
  • tener - to have
  • ser - to be
  • necesita - he/she needs
  • el casco - the helmet
  • la armadura - the armor
  • la lanza - the spear 
  • el héroe - the hero
  • lee - he/she reads
  • lucha - he/she fights
  • ve - he/she sees
  • el caballero - the knight
  • quiere - he/she wants to
  • puede - he/she is able to 
  • come - he/she eats
  • comer - to eat
  • quiere comer - he/she wants to eat
  • puede comer - he/she is able to eat
Grammar Concept:
Review:  When you want to make a phrase with "quiere" or "puede" or "necesita," you have to add an "r" to the end of the he/she form of the verb.
  • cocina - he/she cooks
  • cocinar - to cook
  • quiere cocinar - he/she wants to cook
  • puede cocinar - he/she is able to cook

  • Bible Memory:  This semester, we'll be memorizing 2 Corinthians 13:11 as an (HC)2 group.  We will practice memorizing this verse in Spanish.
    • Previous Assignments:  Did you miss last week's assignment?  If you were absent, you may still complete it for 2 stickers each.  If you weren't absent, but didn't get to the assignment, you may still complete the assignments for one sticker each.
