We wrapped up our unit about the Spanish festival of "Las Fallas."

      Due to Special Guest day, we did not meet for our regular class period.  It was great to meet everyone's special guest and to have a time of worship together.

        Kindergarten: March 27, 2019

        This week, we finished telling the story of the "La Galleta que Corre" (The Cookie that Runs, or The Gingerbread man!)  We had fun acting out the parts of the different animals.

        • Who were the "estrellitas" today?  (Everyone has had a second turn!  Since we don't have enough weeks for everyone to have an individual third turn, we'll have two stars every week.)
        • How did the story end in Spanish class?  (The gingerbread cookie met a fox.  The fox said "I like cookies!" and the story ended.  Most of the students guessed that the fox would eat the cookie!)

        We talked a bit more about the Spanish festival of "Las Fallas."  It occurred Tuesday in Valencia, Spain!

        • What is the "noche de fuego"?  (It's on March 19, the last night of the Fallas festival.  Around 10 PM they begin burning the fallas.  This continues until all of the fallas have been burned.  Then they have a fireworks show.)

              This week, we practiced family and size vocabulary words with a new story!  The new story was still about a cookie, and most students recognized it as a familiar tale.  We'll finish the end of the story next week.

                  4th Grade: March 13, 2019

                  Today in class, we practiced reading in Spanish and drawing people based on what we read.  We're looking forward to wrapping up this unit with some games over the next two weeks.

                    This week, we continued practicing family and size vocabulary words.  We reread the story about gingerbread cookies, and your students brought home a vocabulary sheet to share with you.

                    • Who were the "estrellitas" today?  (Everyone has had a second turn!  Since we don't have enough weeks for everyone to have an individual third turn, we'll have two stars every week.)

                    5th and 6th Grade: March 6, 2019

                    Over the next few weeks, we'll be talking about a popular Spanish festival, Las Fallas.  The festival takes place every March in Valencia, Spain.  We'll be reading a short story (in Spanish!) to learn about the festival and review a lot of the vocabulary we have learned this year.

                      This week, we continued our new unit.  We'll be reading a short story and learning a traditional song for making hot chocolate.
