2nd and 3rd Grade: October 18, 2017

Over the next few weeks, we'll be discovering Peru in class!  This week, we spent some time talking about where Peru is located, it's flag, and what the seasons are like.

Ask your student:
  • When it's winter in Michigan, what season is it in Peru?  (Summer!  Peru's seasons are the opposite of ours.)
  • What does Peru's flag look like?  (It's red and white and it has a design/picture/coat of arms in the center.)
Vocabulary:
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
  • la bandera - the flag
  • rojo - red
  • blanco - white
  • el invierno - the winter
  • el verano - the summer
  • las estaciones - the seasons
  • el opuesto - the opposite

Homework:
  • Song!  Listen to the Seasons Song.  This song is about the seasons in Michigan.  How would the song be different if we were singing it in Peru?
  • Quia Vocabulary/Language practice
    • Nothing this week!  Check out the Bible verse practice activities.
    • Bible Memory:  This semester, we'll be memorizing 2 Corinthians 13:11 as an (HC)2 group.  We will practice memorizing this verse in Spanish.
      • Printed Version
      • Audio Version
      • Online Games and Practice  (Note:  Students do NOT have to have a Quia account to do these games and activities.  The Battleship style game is the best beginner option!)
        • Quizlet:  Online flashcards to practice the key vocabulary
        • Quia:  Battleship style "fill in the blanks" practice
        • Quia:  Put the phrases in order
        • Quia:  Put the phases in order to reveal a secret photo
