4th Grade: September 20, 2017

Today in class, we continued learning high-frequency words in Spanish.  We began by reading a story together as a class.  Then, we learned some new vocabulary words and practiced them by playing a game and hiding Pedro in different desks!

Ask your student:
  • Who was today's "amigo del día"?  (This week's amigo del día was a boy who doesn't like carrots and enjoys swimming.  We learned that everyone in our class enjoys swimming!)
Vocabulary:
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
  • está en - he/she is located in
  • pone - he/she puts
  • otro - other/another
  • tiene - he/she has
    • NOTE:  Our 4th grade students had some great questions today and we talked a bit about some differences between Spanish and English.  In questions and sentences with a "no" or "not" we say "have" in English, but they still use "tiene" in Spanish.
      • Example:  Ana does not have a tomato = Ana no tiene un tomate.
      • Example:  Does Francisco have a cat?  = ¿Tiene Francisco un gato?
  • es - he/she it is
  • el hombre - the man
  • trabaja - he/she works
  • le dice - he/she says to him/her
  • se llama - he/she is called (named)
  • hay - there is/there are
Homework:
Please email me if you need your Quia username and/or password.
  • Bible Memory:  This semester, we'll be memorizing 2 Corinthians 13:11 as an (HC)2 group.  We will practice memorizing this verse in Spanish.
    • Previous Assignments:  Did you miss last week's assignment?  If you were absent, you may still complete it for 2 stickers each.  If you weren't absent, but didn't get to the assignment, you may still complete the assignments for one sticker each.
