Ask your student:
- Who were the "amig@s del día" in Spanish class today? What is one thing you learned about each of them? (This week, we had two amigos del día. One girl who enjoys painting, and a boy who likes Legos.)
- What does it mean when Señora Brouwer types something with the @ sign? (It could be a "o" or an "a." It's a abbreviation that native Spanish speakers use. Instead of saying amigo (friend who's a boy) and amiga (friend who's a girl) they write "amig@" to be both.)
- What do "the man," "the shoulder," and "hunger" all have in common? (They all sound similar in Spanish! The man = el hombre; the shoulder = el hombro; the hunger = el hambre...try saying it 3 times!)
