2nd and 3rd Grade: September 7, 2016

Today in Spanish class, we reviewed the word "hay" and learned another important Spanish word:  "quiere."  Using these two words and cognates (words that look and sound the same in both Spanish and English), students worked in small groups to write their own simple stories in Spanish!  We even took time to share them with the class.

Ask your student:
  • What does "quiere" mean in Spanish?  (Quiere means "he or she wants.")
  • What was your group's story about?  (All of our stories followed the same pattern.  The main character wants something, but there isn't any.  There is something else, but the character doesn't want it.  Click here if you would like to see the worksheet we used while writing the story.)
This week's vocabulary:
  • hay - there is, there are
  • quiere - he/she wants
  • un problema - a problem
Homework:
  • This semester, we'll be memorizing Colossians 3:16-17 as an (HC)2 group.  In Spanish class, we will also focus on memorizing just verse 17 in Spanish.
  • Last week, I linked a practice game on Quia for reviewing the word "hay".  If you didn't get a chance to play last week or you would like to play again, CLICK HERE
