4th, 5th, and 6th Grade: March 16, 2016

Today in class, we began a new unit:  art related vocabulary words, and learning about the Spanish artist Joan Miró.  Over the course of the unit, students will learn the vocabulary for expressing opinions in Spanish.

Ask your student:
  • Who were the amigos del día in class today?  What did you learn about them?  (We had two "amigos del día":  a girl who likes to ride on her penny board--like a skate board, and a boy who has a pet rabbit with a leash.)
  • Did you like the painting you looked at in class?  Why or why not?  (Joan Miró was known for simplifying art, sometimes only painting lines and blobs.)
This week's vocabulary:
  • New Vocabulary
    • la línea - the line
    • el círculo - the circle
    • el artista - the artist
    • la pintura - the painting
    • pinta - he/she paints
    • dibuja - he/she draws
    • era - he/she was
    • vivió - he/she lived
    • había - there was/there were
Homework:

  • Second Semester Bible Memory
    • This semester, we'll be memorizing two short passages in Spanish.  Students received a hard copy of the verses in class.  If your student misplaced the paper, you can print a new copy HERE.
    • Verses for January and February
    • Yo soy el buen pastor; conozco a mis ovejas y ellas me conocen a mí, así como el Padre me conoce a mí, y yo lo conozco a él, y doy mi vida por las ovejas.  Juan 10:14-15 (Juan diez, versículos catorce y quince.)
