5th and 6th Grade: October 8, 2014

Today in class, we began a new unit.  Over the next few weeks, we'll be learning the vocabulary to retell the story of Jonah all in Spanish!

Ask your student:
  • Do you remember the sentences you wrote in class?  (We took some time in class to write out funny, unique sentences in Spanish using our new vocabulary words.)

Today's vocabulary:
  • quiere ir (a) - he/she wants to go (to)
  • habla - he/she speaks
  • oye - he/she hears
    • ¡Oye! is also used as an informal way to get someone's attention--like "Hey!" in English.
  • el hombre - the man
  • la ciudad - the city
  • otro/otra - other
  • escucha - he/she listens
  • va (a) - he/she goes (to)
    • ¡Va! is also used as a command:  Go!

Homework:
  • Listen and sing along with our song:  Eres Todopoderoso.
  • Practice our vocabulary words with these activities:  Flashcards/Matching, Hangman
  • Quia assignment.  (Completing this assignment is worth 2 pegatinas)
  • Begin practicing our Bible Memory Verse:  Galatians 5:22
    • En cambio, el fruto del Espíritu es amor, alegría, paz, paciencia, amabilidad, bondad, fidelidad, humilidad, y dominio propio.  Gálatas 5:22 (cinco, versículo veintidos)
    • Audio Version
    • Earn 4 stickers by saying the verse to me on or before Wednesday, October 29.
