5th and 6th Grade: March 22, 2017

In class today, we learned the how 5 de mayo celebrations are similar and different in the US and Mexico.

Ask your student:
  • How are 5 de mayo celebrations different in Mexico and the US?  (In Mexico, it's a national holiday.  Government officials organize speeches and in some places, they reenact the battle.  In the US, it's more of a cultural celebration.  Different community groups organize parties to celebrate Mexican-American culture.  People don't really mention the battle.
