2nd and 3rd Grade: November 12, 2014

Today in class, we began to talk about what students are thankful for.  We learned how to say those words in Spanish.  Over the next few weeks, we'll be learning more vocabulary to express thankfulness in Spanish.  We also continued practicing numbers...we're up to 49!

Ask your student:

  • What is something that you are thankful for?  Do you know how to say that in Spanish?  (The vocabulary list below may be helpful!)
This week's vocabulary (based on what students said they were thankful for):

  • Doy gracias por - I give thanks for
  • las personas - the people
    • mi familia - my family
    • mis amigos - my friends
    • mi pastor - my pastor
    • las personas de India - the people of India
  • Dios y su creación - God and His creation
    • el océano - the ocean
    • mi perro - my dog
    • mis mascotas - my pets
    • lobos y leones - wolves and lions
  • la salud - the health
  • la comida - the food
  • la escuela - the school
    • la tarea - the homework
    • los proyectos de ciencias - science projects
  • las vacaciones - vacations
  • las tiendas - the stores
  • la iglesia - the church
  • mi felicidad - my happiness
  • mi diente suelto - my loose tooth

Homework:
  • Look at this picture that we created in class this week.  These are all things that you and your classmates are thankful for.  Do you remember what everything means?  Look at the vocabulary list above if you need help. 
  • Sing along with our new song:  Demos Gracias (Let's Give Thanks)
  • Sing along with our new numbers songs:  El Canto de las Decenas (The Song of the Tens...counting to 100 by tens in Spanish), Counting to 100 by Tens
  • Practice our previous Bible Verse:  Ephesians 4:32
