4/5/6: September 11, 2013

Today in class, we began our first 4 week unit:  ¡Vamos a Chile!  (Let's go to Chile!)  Today we started by talking about where Chile is located and what it looks like.  We also played "Veo, Veo" (I Spy) in Spanish.

In addition to learning about Chile, we began learning a Bible verse in Spanish too.  During the month of September, we'll be learning John 3:16 in Spanish.  Students can use this audio slide show to hear the verse in Spanish as they practice!  Students should be ready to say the verse to me (in Spanish) on or before October 9.

Dios amó tanto al mundo que dio a su Hijo único para que todo el que crea en Él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna.  Juan tres versículo dieciséis.

Ask your student:

  • Where is Chile?  (See if they can answer in Spanish!  Chile está en Sudamérica.)
  • What does Chile look like?  (Again see if your student can answer in Spanish!  Chile es largo y estrecho.  Chile is long and narrow.)

Today's vocabulary:
  • hay = there is/there are
  • es = he/she/it is
  • está en = he/she/it is located in
  • tiene = he/she/it has
  • largo = long
  • corto = short
  • estrecho = narrow
  • ancho = wide
  • el país = the country
  • la costa = the coast
