2/3: September 11, 2013

Today in class, we began our first unit:  Mi rutina, la rutina de otros (My Routine and the Routine of Others).  We will be learning a lot of daily routine vocabulary and how our daily routine differs from routines in other countries.  Today we focused on things we do to get ready in the morning.

We also began learning a Bible verse in Spanish.  During the month of September, we will be learning 1 Corinthians 10:31.  Students can use this AUDIO SLIDE SHOW to hear the verse in Spanish as they practice.  Students should be ready to say the verse to me (in Spanish) on or before October 9.

Si hacen algo, háganlo todo para la gloria de Dios.  Primero de Corintios diez versículo treinta y uno.

Ask your student:
  • What do you like to drink with breakfast in the morning? (We learned 3 options in class:  agua-water, leche-milk, jugo-juice.  A lot of students told me they have smoothies!  There are several different words for smoothies in Spanish, but in Mexico the most common phrase is "licuado de fruta.")

Today's vocabulary:
  • por la mañana = in the morning
  • me levanto = I get up
  • me visto = I get dressed
  • me lavo la cara = I wash my face
  • me lavo los dientes = I wash (brush) my teeth
  • como el desayuno = I eat breakfast
  • bebo = I drink
    • agua = water
    • leche = milk
    • jugo = juice
  • A las siete = at seven o'clock
  • A las siete y media = at seven thirty
  • A las ocho = at eight o'clock
  • A las ocho y media = at eight thirty
