1st Grade: September 4, 2013

Today in Spanish class, we spent a little time getting to know each other.  We also began learning days of the week, months, and weather terms in Spanish.  Each week, we'll begin class by talking about the calendar in Spanish.

Ask your student:

• Do you remember how to say "Wednesday" in Spanish?  (miércoles)
• What is an interesting difference between the days of the week in English and the days of the week in Spanish?  (In English, days of the week begin with a capital letter.  In Spanish, they are all lowercase).

Today's vocabulary (We will practice calendar/weather vocabulary all year):

• ¿Qué día es hoy?  - What day is today?
• Hoy es... - Today is...
• ¿Qué tiempo hace hoy? - What's the weather today?
• Days of the week (Listen and learn)
• Months of the year (Listen and learn)
• Weather and seasons (Listen and learn)

Homework:

• Spend some time practicing days of the week, months, weather, and seasons in Spanish.  You may use the links in the vocabulary section, or sing along with these songs...
