5th and 6th Grade: January 16, 2019

This week, we read about Andean Flamingos in Spanish!

Ask your student:
  • What did you read in Spanish class today?  (This week, students read a short magazine about the Andean Flamingo.  The mini magazine was all in Spanish!  Students used previous knowledge and cognates to find main ideas.  Next week, we'll go over the magazine together and dive in a bit deeper!) . some students ended up with a lot of stones, others only had a few.)
  • What tongue twister did you learn in Spanish?  
    • Pepe Pecas pica papas con un pico.  Con un pico, Pepe Pecas pica papas.  
    • Pepe Freckles picks for potatoes with a pick-ax.  With a pick-ax, Pepe Freckles picks for potatoes. 
    Vocabulary
    Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
    • va - he/she goes

    • es - he/she/it is

      This semester, our (HC)2 group will be memorizing Psalm 23 in English.  In 2nd-6th grade, we will also be memorizing the passage in Spanish.  Everyone will memorize the first verse, but I'll post an audio version of the entire Psalm for students who want a challenge in Spanish!
    • Previous Assignments:  Did you miss last week's assignment?  If you were absent, you may still complete it for 2 stickers each.  If you weren't absent, but didn't get to the assignment, you may still complete the assignments for one sticker each.
