1st Grade: March 18, 2015

Today in class, we continued learning about community related vocabulary words in Spanish.  This week, we learned about some important people in our community.

Ask your student:
  • Do you remember the actions you learned for each of the new words?  (El vecino: wave hello, la profesora: point to Sra. Brouwer, el bombero: pretend to hold a fire hose, el policia: pretend to blow a whistle and direct traffic, el cartero: pretend to put mail in mailboxes, el pastor: say "Amén," el médico: pretend to listen to a heartbeat.) 
This week's vocabulary:
  • el vecino - the neighbor
  • la profesora - the teacher
  • el bombero - the firefighter
  • el policía - the police officer
  • el cartero - the mail carrier
  • el pastor - the pastor/minister
  • el médico - the doctor
Homework:
  • Sing along with our new song: "Ponte el cinturón"...a song all about wearing your seatbelt to stay safe! :)
  • Practice last week's vocabulary words (places in the community) with THIS video. 
  • Practice this week's vocabulary words (people in the community) with THIS video.
  • Bible verse for March-May:  Hebrews 13:8 (Click for audio version)
    • Jesucristo es el mismo ayer, hoy, y siempre.  Hebreos 13 versículo 8.
  • Bible verse for January and February: 1 John 14:19  (Click for audio version)
    • Nosotros amamos porque Él nos amó primero.  Primero de Juan 14 versículo 19.
