5th and 6th Grade: January 21, 2015

Today in class, we continued learning some "market" vocabulary.  I'm excited to see how students use this vocabulary at Market Day next week!

Ask your student:
  • What does it mean if you set out a "Se Habla Español" sign at Market Day? (It means that you are willing to speak Spanish with customers like Sra. Brouwer and the 3rd and 4th grade students.)

This week's vocabulary
  • compra - he/she buys
  • vende - he/she sells
  • ¿Quieres probarlo? - Do you want to try/sample it?
  • Tengo - I have
  • Tienes - you have/do you have

Homework:
  • Did you misplace your "Se Habla Español" sign and useful phrases?  Print another copy HERE.  I'll see you all at Market Day!
  • Our new song: Countries and Capitals of Central America/The Caribbean.  We'll be listening to this song in class each week.  The goal is for students to learn all of the countries and capitals by the end of April.
  • We realized we need to brush up on numbers in Spanish (especially for saying how much something costs!).  Practice counting by 10s in Spanish with this song.  Here's another video that practices counting to 100 in Spanish.
