1st Grade: January 28, 2015

In Spanish class, we continued our unit:  ¡Qué Rico! (How Delicious!).  This week we talked about tacos from Mexico.

Ask your student:
  • Are tacos from Mexico the same as tacos from "Taco Bell"?  How are they the same?  How are they different?  (Both kinds of tacos have meat and tortillas.  In Mexico, they also put onion and cilantro on the tacos.  If they use cheese it is white.  At Taco Bell/In the US, our tacos usually have lettuce and tomatoes.  The cheese is a yellow-orange color. )
Today's vocabulary:
  • la tortilla - the tortilla
  • la carne - the meat
  • la cebolla - the onion
  • el queso - the cheese
Homework:
  • Look at what we've been learning!  Click through our SLIDE SHOW from class.  Ask your student what the vocabulary words mean in English.  (Tip~There is a translation of each slide at the end!)
  • Sing along with our song:  Si tu tienes mucha hambre, come un pan (If You're Hungry, Eat Some Bread).
  • New Bible verse for January and February: 1 John 14:19  (Click for audio version)
    • Nosotros amamos porque Él nos amó primero.  Primero de Juan 14 versículo 19.
  • To review calendar/weather vocabulary at home, you can sing along with these songs...
