2nd and 3rd Grade: January 21, 2015

Today in class, we continued learning all about Peru.  Specifically, we focused on the land/landforms and a few common animals.

Ask your student:

• Does Peru have any mountains?  What are they called?  (Yes, the Andes Mountains are in Peru.) 
• What is a condor?  (It's a large bird that lives in the mountains of Peru.)

This week's vocabulary:

• las montañas - the mountains
• los Andes - the Andes (mountains in Peru)
• la costa - the coast
• la playa - the beach
• la selva - the jungle
• el lago - the lake
• Lago Titicaca - Lake Titicaca (located between Peru and Bolivia)
• el río - the river
• el Río Amazonas - the Amazon River
• el condor - the condor (a large bird)
• la alpaca - the alpaca (type of llama)

Homework:

• Sing along with our new song:  Mi mandamiento (This is My Commandment)
• Listen to the Seasons Song.  This song is about the seasons in Michigan.  How would the song be different if we were singing it in Peru?
• Practice our new Bible Memory verse:  1 Corinthians 13:4 (Audio Version)
