4/5/6: October 2, 2013

Today, we finished up our unit about Chile and we celebrated with a ramada.  We watched a short video of traditional cueca dancers and we played a mini version of the game rayuela.

Ask your student:
  • What is a ramada?  (It's an independence day party.  People eat empanadas, play traditional games, and dance the traditional dance of Chile:  la cueca.)
  • How do you play rayuela?  (You try to throw a stone as close as you can to a line drawn on the ground, or over a target filled with mud.  In class we played a mini version with nickles)

Today's vocabulary:

  • la ramada - Chilean independence day party
  • la cueca - the traditional dance of Chile
  • rayuela - a traditional Chilean game.
  • comen - they eat
  • bailan - they dance
  • juegan - they play

Homework:
  • Sing along with our song:  Eres digno de alabar (Worthy of Praise)
  • Review weather and seasons by listening to this song.
  • Our final unit assignment was handed out in class.  If you misplaced it, you can print off another copy HERE.
  • As you complete the assignment, you can go back and look at our SLIDE SHOW from class.
  • Practice our Bible Verse:  John 3:16.  (Click HERE for slide show!  You will earn 2 pegatinas/stickers for memorizing this verse by October 9.)
