5th and 6th Grade: February 6, 2019

After two weeks off (missing class due to the 2 hour delay, and then a snow day) it was great to see everyone again!

This week, we quickly reviewed the mini magazine about Andean Flamingos, read a fictitious story about a flamingo, and worked to write our own endings to the story.

Ask your student
  • Tell me about the flamingo story from Spanish class today.
    • Oscar the Flamingo lives in the Andes.  He wants to go on an adventure, so he heads to Michigan.  He doesn't like how cold it is in Michigan, so he tries to fly back to Chile, but they won't let flamingos in the airport.  So he heads to the zoo and meets with the other flamingos.  Students are working on the ending from there!  Next week, we'll read their stories in class.

    • Quia Vocabulary/Language practice:
      • Óscar el flamingo story
        • Make a list of 2-4 new vocabulary words you want to use in your ending.  Bring them to class with you and I can help you choose the right form of the word for your story.
    • Weather and Seasons
    • Bible Memory:
This semester, our (HC)2 group will be memorizing Psalm 23 in English.  In 2nd-6th grade, we will also be memorizing the passage in Spanish.  Everyone will memorize the first verse, but I'll post an audio version of the entire Psalm for students who want a challenge in Spanish!
    • Previous Assignments:  Did you miss last week's assignment?  If you were absent, you may still complete it for 2 stickers each.  If you weren't absent, but didn't get to the assignment, you may still complete the assignments for one sticker each.
