5th and 6th Grade: November 29, 2017

This week we took some time for students to share their Don Quixote homework assignments.  I was very impressed with the time and effort that they put in to these projects!  We also spent some time talking about today's "amiga del día."  Over the next few weeks, we'll spend more time getting to know several "amigos" each week.

Ask your student:
  • Who was the amiga del día?  What did you learn about her?  (Our amiga del día was a girl who enjoys reading and she has two cats.  She does not like playing tennis or videogames.)
Vocabulary:
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
  • le gusta - he/she likes
  • leer - to read
  • jugar - to play
  • tenis - tennis
  • videojuegos - video games
  • tiene - he/she has
Grammar Concept:
Expressing likes and dislikes:  When we talked about Ormie the Pig and Don Quixote, we learned about verb phrases that use two verbs, and the second verb ends with an R (Example:  quiere comer = he/she wants to eat).  When expressing likes and dislikes with the verb "gusta" the second verb also ends with R.
  •  me gusta - I like                       me gusta cantar - I like to sing
  • te gusta - you like                     te gusta cantar - you like to sing
  • le gusta - he/she likes               le gusta cantar - he/she likes to sing
Homework:
Please email me if you need your Quia username and/or password.
  • Quia Vocabulary/Language practice:
    • Assignment (based on "amigo del día" vocabulary, worth 2 stickers)
  • Bible Memory:  This semester, we'll be memorizing 2 Corinthians 13:11 as an (HC)2 group.  We will practice memorizing this verse in Spanish.
