5th and 6th Grade: November 15, 2017

This week, we read a "mini book" to wrap up our unit about Don Quixote.

Ask your student:
  • What did you think about Don Quixote?  Would you be interested in reading more of his adventures someday?

Grammar Concept:
The verb "to be":  The verb "to be" is important in both Spanish and English.  Through this unit, we will be learning the various forms of the verb:
  • I am = yo soy
  • you are = tú eres
  • he is = él es
  • she is = ella es
  • they are = ellos son
  • to be = ser (used in a phrase like "quiere ser" - he/she wants to be)
Review:  When you want to make a phrase with "quiere" or "puede" or "necesita," you have to add an "r" to the end of the he/she form of the verb.
  • cocina - he/she cooks
  • cocinar - to cook
  • quiere cocinar - he/she wants to cook
  • puede cocinar - he/she is able to cook
