4th Grade: February 14, 2018

We finished up our Market Day unit by reading a short story together as a class.  We also had some time for a few activities to learn Valentine-related vocabulary.

Ask your student:
  • What was the story about in Spanish class? (It was about a boy named Luis who was selling cookies and chocolate at Market Day.)
Vocabulary
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
  • quiero - I want
  • necesito - I need
  • ¿Hay más? - Are there any more?
  • No hay más. - There aren't any more.
  • ¿Quieres probarlo? - Do you want to try/sample it?
  • ¿Puedo probarlo? - May I try/sample it?
  • ¿Cuánto cuesta? - How much does it cost?
  • Cuesta... - It costs...
  • ¿Tienes una oferta? - Do you have a deal/offer?
  • Tengo una oferta. - I have a deal/offer
  • por - for (dos por 1 dólar - two for $1)
  • pero - but/however
  • dólares - dollars
  • centavos/céntimos - cents
  • ¡Es una ganga! - It's a bargain!
  • Es muy caro. - It's very expensive.
  • Es muy barato. - It's very cheap
  • No lo necesito. - I don't need it.
  • algo útil - something useful
  • comida - food
  • juguete - toy
  • decoración - decoration
