1st Grade: February 7, 2018

This week, we learned all about the sense of smell.  We also practiced describing everyday objects using our five senses.

Ask your student:
  • Tell me one thing that you think, "huele bien."  (Something that smells good!)

Vocabulary
Words in bold are new this week, others are review
  • la nariz - the nose
  • huele bien - it smells good
  • huele mal - it smells bad
  • pruebo - I taste
  • como - I eat
  • la boca - the mouth
  • la lengua - the tongue
  • dulce - sweet
  • salado - salty
  • las manos - the hands
  • toco - I touch
  • suave - smooth
  • áspero - rough/bumpy
  • blando - soft/squishy
  • duro - hard
  • escucho - I listen
  • escucha - he/she listens
  • los oídos - the (inner) ears
  • las orejas - the (outer) ears
  • habla bajo - he/she speaks softly
  • habla fuerte - he/she speaks loudly
  • veo - I see
  • ve - he/she sees 
  • los ojos - the eyes
Homework:
Note:  In first grade, most of our Spanish homework consists of watching short videos or songs to reinforce the vocabulary we learn in class.
  • Colors song!  It's a fast paced song, but a fun way to review colors in Spanish!
  • Watch this video to practice our weather vocabulary words.
  • Sing along with our 5 Senses song in Spanish.  We've only listened to the first two verses...more to come next week!
