1st Grade: January 10, 2018

This week in Spanish, we began learning the vocabulary for our next unit.  We'll be learning words and phrases to talk about our 5 senses in Spanish.  This week, we focused on our eyes and seeing.  We played a game of "Veo, veo" (I Spy in Spanish) and it was a great way to review color vocabulary as well.

Ask your student:
  • Do you remember what "veo, veo" means in Spanish?  (It means "I see, I see."  It's what you say to start a game of "I spy.")
Vocabulary
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
  • veo - I see
  • ve - he/she sees
  • los ojos - the eyes
Game
In Spanish, the game "I spy" has a specific "conversation" to start it off.
  • Person 1:  Veo, Veo.                           (I see, I see)
    • Person 2:  ¿Qué ves?                (What do you see?)
  • Person 1:  Una cosita                         (A little thing)
    • Person 2:  ¿Qué cosita es?        (What little thing is it?)
  • Person 1:  Es una cosita de color...     (It is a little thing of the color...)
  • Person 1 says what color the object is, and Person 2 begins guessing.

Homework:
Note:  In first grade, most of our Spanish homework consists of watching short videos or songs to reinforce the vocabulary we learn in class.
  • Colors song!  It's a fast paced song, but a fun way to review colors in Spanish!
  • Watch this video to practice our weather vocabulary words.
