1st Grade: February 15, 2017

This week, we began a new unit.  Over the next few weeks, we'll be learning community related vocabulary all in Spanish.

Ask your student:
  • Do you remember the actions you learned for each of the new words?  (La casa: hold two arms over head like a roof; la iglesia: fold hands, holding up index fingers as a steeple, el supermercado: pretend to push a cart, el vecino: wave and say "hola;" el bombero: pretend to hold a fire hose.)

Vocabulary
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
  • el vecino - the neighbor (boy)
  • la vecina - the neighbor (girl)
  • el bombero - the firefighter
  • la casa - the house
  • el supermercado - the supermarket
  • la iglesia - the church
    Homework:
    • Second Semester Bible Memory Verse~Matthew 7:24.
      • El hombre prudente construyó su casa sobre la roca.  Mateo 7:24 (siete, versículo veinticuatro)

      • Actions:
        • El hombre prudente - point to head (wise)
        • construyó - one fist over other, like you're building
        • su casa - hands over head like a roof
        • sobre - hands make a flat surface
        • la roca - two fists next to each other making a solid rock
        • Mateo - hands open next to each other like a book
        • siete - hold up 7 fingers
        • versículo - one fist on top of the other like a colon
        • veinticuatro - one hand holds up 2 fingers, the other holds up 4
