5th and 6th Grade: September 27, 2017

During class today, some students shared their own Spanish stories with the class!  I was impressed with everyone's creativity!  We also took a few minutes to make our "Amigo del día" posters to share with the class!

Ask your student:
  • What did you learn about Señora Brouwer from her "amigo del día" poster?  (Everyone drew 4 pictures...two of them representing something TRUE about them, and two of them representing something FALSE.  Each week, we'll feature a different student and learn all about them in Spanish.  This week students learned that it's TRUE that I like to travel and I have two children.)

In class this week, we did not learn any new vocabulary words.  Instead, we took time to use the words we've been learning to read a short story in small groups and come up with creative endings to the story.

      Ask your student:
      • Who was today's "amigo del día"?  (This week's amigo del día was a boy bees because he's allergic to them.)
      • What was your group's story about?  How did you finish the story?  (Each group had a story about a man who worked in a restaurant.  Their endings were funny, creative, and all in Spanish!)

                      4th Grade: September 13, 2017

Today in class, we continued learning a few high-frequency words in Spanish.  Over the next few weeks, we'll learn more common words and start stringing them together in to silly stories that we create together as a class...today's challenge was for students to work together as a class to create their own story.

                      Ask your student:
                      • What is "amigo del día"?  Who was today's "amigo del día"?  (Each week, we'll learn a little bit about a classmate.  Each student drew four-six pictures to represent people, activities, etc...that are important to them.  We'll spend some time each week talking about one student's mini poster all in Spanish!  Today's "amigo del día" was Pedro, our stuffed mouse.  He loves cheese and does not like cats.)
                      Vocabulary:
Words in bold are new this week, others are review.
                      • otro - other/another
                      • tiene - he/she has
                      • es - he/she it is
                      • el hombre - the man
