1st Grade: January 25, 2017

This week, we learned all about the sense of touch and different textures.  We played a guessing game to review the texture vocabulary words.

Ask your student:
  • What was the game you played in Spanish class?  Do you remember what object you touched?  (Play at home!  Señora Brouwer had a special "mystery box," but you can use a paper bag.  Put an object inside and describe it in Spanish.  Is it suave (smooth) or áspero (bumpy)?  Is it blando (soft and squishy) or duro (hard)?)

    Kindergarten: January 25, 2017

    In class today, we continued learning the vocabulary to talk about getting ready to play out in the snow!

    Ask your student:
    • Whose team were you on for the relay race game?  (We divided the class in two groups and each group had to help a student put on their snow gear as quickly as Señora Brouwer said the words in Spanish.)

    5th and 6th Grade: January 17, 2017

    Today in class, we reviewed "market" vocabulary.  Students will have a chance to try it out as they shop at Market Day next week!  We also began learning the countries and capitals of South America.

      • Previous Assignments:  Did you miss a previous assignment?  If you were absent, you may still complete it for 2 stickers each.  If you weren't absent, you may still complete the assignments for one sticker each.

        • What was the silly story about in Spanish class?  (To practice our vocabulary words, I told the students another silly story.  It was about animals who would walk along a path and then fall down.  Other animals would come come by and wouldn't be able to help, so they would go and find another animal to help.  In the end, they worked as a team!)

        • Do you remember what the difference is between "orejas" and "oídos"?  (They both mean "ears."  However, your orejas are the part of your ears that you can see.  Your oídos are the inner part of your ears.)
